I have one daughter 2 years old. She is suffereing Wheezing, Coughing, taking fast breath, Trouble in sleeping foe last three days. We have given the Alopathy Medication from our Family doctor. According to him, she is suffereing with Asthma. Because my wife also suffered the same disease in her Kid's age. Now after Marriage she is fine. So it may be possible the case of Heridetry(Asthma). But According to my Office Boss, it is not Asthma, it's simple Cough and cold due to change weather. So please advice what will I do right now. Should I change my doctor or How can I know what's the exactly disease and according to that I will give the medication. Please help me.
Answer:
hi there!
Is your office boss a doctor? if not ! trust a qualified specialist than a nonqualified one.
Asthma is not usually diagnosed for children below 3 yr age, unless the wheeze is repeated and there is a strong family history in your case. SO it may be possible that your kid may not have asthma, but given the current context.. yes over the years she may turn into an asthma.
Well, thats the technical side of it! whether your child has asthma or no asthma, the treatment in such cases is always same, provided the wheeze is there and confirmed by a specialist.
As your boss suggested, the change of weather in children usually can give rise to a common cold or allergic rhinitis as your wife also had similar allergic tendencies in childhood. If the child is wheezing with fever on first day with runny nose its usually bronchiolitis.
The severity of symptoms decide severity of treatment.
So as your child had sleep less nights its more like a severe wheezing episode that may require vigorous nebulisation with bronchodilator medicines.
