My 8 month old baby has been exclusively breastfed since birth, as she refuses a bottle. We have tried every bottle to no avail. About 2 months ago we started trying to give her a sippy cup, and it's just not catching on. I have tried giving her breastmilk, water, juice, watered down juice, and formula in both a sippy cup and a bottle. I really need her to start taking a bottle because I need to go back to work. Her pediatrician told me to just leave one day, and leave her with someone else and some bottles. The theory was that she would eventually take the bottle because she would be hungry. However, she just screamed the whole day and didnt eat for 12 hours. Please help me- I really don't know what to do!

well, what she seems to had is bottle confusion. if she is feeding well at breast and not at bottle , means she doesnt want to suck or she has to learn sucking. A simple way is to not to insist for a bottle, give all with a spoon, as she is closer to 8 months; she can very well learn the same. she will surely drink if she is hungry provided the feed is accessible. bottle is an inaccessible device for her. If you keep feed in a saucer, i m sure she will enjoy licking that.
well, if you want to establisha bottle at this age, it may cause weaning problems later. but you are determined to do it, use the bottle initially at a distance then squeeze some drops or a jet in her mouth or over lips. do it again n again 6-8 times, she will lick the bottle and eventually take it.
Also traoin her to use bottle by giving water in a bottle.

but i will strongly discourage all ways of bottle feeding; as it is not required at all.
