UNDERSTANDING CHILDREN - PARENTS, THEIR DISEASE, TREATMENT AND THE DOCTOR!
When my daughter was born, her pediatrician told us she had a dimple above her rectum at the base of her tail bone. He told us to think nothing about it. However, we are not sure about his medical expertise. I am concerned about it and want to get a second opinion. It almost seems like the hole is open. Our daughter is 14 months old. Does she have spina bifida? If not, got any ideas?
answer:
it can be a simple sinus or or a dimple or rarely a fistula. spina bifida can be confirmed by an xray test.
sinus and dimple are harmless unless they get ingected. spina bifida may have some nervous damage.
