weight gain and height depends on growth velocity and height of parents , community and nutritional status and diseases if any. did u keep serial weight recordings of your child and plot them on growth chart? growth charts are freely available at various sites on Google search
what is his current weight? what percentile does it fall on growth chart?
any weight that consistently drops or falls below centiles is a concern. normally children maintain their weight from 10th to 95th centile along the growth chart.
A child with repeated throat infection or on prolonged breast feed after 1 year age may be low in weight.
a premature baby may be low in weight, so is a baby in socioeconomically average or poor setup.
height in centimeters should also be plotted on height charts . normally there are tremendous height variations. at 15 month age his height should be around 75 to 85 centimeters. factors affecting weight can also affect height; in addition vitamin D deficiency and low mean height of parents may make the child grow with low mean height velocity.
